Uninstalled Trezor Bridge now trezor won't connect

I only use web version of trezor suite with trezor bridge installed because I run Firefox on an older windows version on which the Desktop App no longer worked …and all worked fine. I then uninstalled trezor bridge as per deprecation advice and now immediately afterwards my trezor can’t be accessed. I tried using Chrome as advised instead but it still doesn’t find my trezor and I believe this is because Chrome hasn’t been updating to latest updates also due to not supporting the older windows version. So, until I finally can afford an update to a newer computer and operating system, I just wanted to download and install the trezor bridge again but can’t find it easily up on the trezor website ..any advice here welcome thanks

Hi @Cob

The current, supported connection method for Trezor Suite Web is WebUSB, which works in up-to-date Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge) on supported operating systems. This is why the Bridge was removed from prominent places on the website.

That said, in your specific case:

  • You’re on an older Windows version
  • Your browsers can’t update anymore
  • WebUSB does not work
  • Everything worked reliably with Trezor Bridge before

In this scenario, re-installing Trezor Bridge as a temporary workaround might work, even though it’s deprecated.

The Bridge installer is still available directly from Trezor’s data server:

https://data.trezor.io/bridge/latest/index.html

From there:

  1. Download the installer for your Windows version
  2. Install Trezor Bridge
  3. Restart your computer
  4. Connect your Trezor and open Trezor Suite
  5. When prompted, allow the Bridge connection

If it worked before, there’s a good chance it will work again in the same environment.

Important notes :warning:

  • Trezor Bridge will not receive further updates
  • Future firmware or Suite Web changes may eventually stop working with it
  • This should be considered a temporary solution only
  • We can’t accept any liability if anything goes wrong, as the feature has been officially deprecated and shouldn’t be used.
