Trezor Model T "check wallet backup" error

Hi,

I’ve forgotten my PIN code and therefore I’ve opened my Trezor model T wallet in bootloader mode in my Trezor Suite desktop app in order to do a factory reset. However, first of all it asks for me to do a firmware update, and when I confirm that I want to do this updaet I then get prompted to first do a wallet backup check. When I try to do this check, however, I just receive an error message saying “Wallet backup check failed - ui-device_bootloader_mode”.

Does anyone know how to try and fix this issue? I think it’s absolutely necessary to have an offline wallet backup before I do the factory reset, but unfortunately I’m not sure if I have such a backup at this moment.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

don’t do anything before you find the backup!!

If you factory reset your Trezor, you will lose access to your funds. The only way to regain access is to find and restore your backup. Without it, any funds currently on the Trezor will be lost to you forever.

You either need to remember the PIN or find the backup.

If you don’t have any funds on the Trezor, you can proceed. There should be an option to “Skip” the backup check, I believe.
