Good afternoon.
Followed @matejcik advice and decided to update the firmware, because it became impossible to work with some coin staking functions.
I updated my Model T from 2.6.0 to 2.8.8 before checking my recovery phrase.
After the update, the unit rebooted and I did not need to enter my recovery phrase again.
Is this is normal behavior?
P.S. I was sure that after a firmware update, the device is completely erased and I have to re-enter the recovery phrase.
Thank you for your reply
Yes, very much so.
Trezor can sometimes erase itself in response to a failed firmware upgrade.
This is a defence measure. Certain kinds of problems during the upgrade could constitute a hardware attack. In order to protect your seed, Trezor will rather delete it than keep it in reach of a possible attacker.
In recent versions of Trezor T bootloader, we have improved sensitivity of this process. Most of the time a failed upgrade will not erase your seed.
It can still happen, if the failure comes at exactly the wrong moment, so we still recommend you check your seed backup before upgrading.
Thank you for your reply.
Btw, after the update I noticed that the start of loading the search for balances in the web version of Suite increased, balances are loaded correctly, but after the update for some reason it started to take longer.
I don’t know if you know about this, but I was a bit scared when I noticed that the balances take a long time to be loaded
@matejcik Did you know about that?
Before the firmware update, the Trezor Suite loaded consistently quick
that’s almost certainly unrelated to the firmware update
I haven’t updated the firmware in a long time and have always used Trezor Suite just fine.
But after the update the time to load balances became much longer
