How do I recover my physical wallet PIN?

A software update asked me for a PIN and displayed 9 numbers in a random 3x3 grid. I don’t recall setting a password, and none of my traditional ones work. I’ve effectively been locked out of my Trezor on the app and therefore my BitCoin account.
It would REALLY help if the help articles were written in a way average people could understand them.

@Griz if you have forgotten your Trezor’s PIN you must factory reset the device in order to regain access.

Before proceeding with a factory reset please make sure that you have the correct wallet backup (recovery seed) and passphrase (if you use a passphrase wallet).

To reset your forgotten PIN, please connect your device in bootloader mode:

Please, find information on how to access bootloader mode below:

Trezor Safe 5 and Trezor Model T
Connect the USB cable while swiping your finger across the touchscreen. Then confirm by selecting “INSTALL FIRMWARE”.

Trezor Safe 3
Connect the USB cable to your Trezor while holding the left button. Then confirm by clicking the left button “INSTALL FW” once again.

Trezor Model One

Connect the USB cable to your Trezor while holding the left button.

After the device is connected in bootloader mode you should see the following screen:

Click on the green gear button to open the device settings where the “Factory reset” button can be found:

As long as you have verified your wallet backup you can proceed to factory reset which will erase everything on your device including firmware.

Please tick both boxes in the next pop-up window and confirm the action directly on your device.

After this procedure, your device will be empty.

You can reconnect it and go to Trezor Suite, install the firmware, recover your wallet, and set up a new PIN.
