Hello, i want to use Trezor Safe 3 in Tails OS, i already installed Trezor Suite as .Appimage. My Question is- should i enable only “TOR EXTERNAL”, or should i enable “TOR EXTERNAL” AND “TOR” with “onion links”?
not sure if more secure will be with tor over tor but all in .onion or one tor on clearnet tor.
I also see that i can’t use .onion rpc’s when i have turned on “TOR” and turned off “external tor”, that’s the thing that you could change - if i already use tor from tails daemon i should be able to connect to .onion rpc’s.

Since Tails automatically routes all internet traffic through Tor, you need to use the “Tor External” option to connect Trezor Suite to the Tails Tor daemon. The correct steps are: ensure Tor is running on port 9050, enable the “Tor External” experimental feature in Trezor Suite, then select “Tor external (9050)” and toggle Tor on.
So to directly answer your question: yes, enable both — but the way they interact is important to understand:
- “Tor External” tells Trezor Suite not to spin up its own bundled Tor instance, and instead hand off to the Tails Tor daemon on port 9050.
- The “Tor” toggle still needs to be ON — this is what activates the privacy routing in Suite (onion backend addresses, IP masking, etc). It just uses the external daemon instead of a bundled one.
