Hi team, I help educate people how to use new Trezors and have found when verifying a receiving address in Trezor suite using a Safe 7, Trezor Suite doesn’t display the address.
So you’re trying to verify a wallet address that you can’t see in Trezor suite on desktop.
My clients have to cancel verification, write down part of the address on paper, click verify and then compare with what their device shows.
Why on earth this has been put in place? It makes verifying your wallet address impossible and clients natively are already skipping this process because of the new design.
Sorry to clarify* It does display it in desktop suite but when you click the verify button to trigger verification on the device, the trezor suite blocks the address so you can’t compare it at the same time.
I don’t recall the exact UI but iirc this is by design.
you are not supposed to compare against Suite
why? because if you have clipboard stealing malware, the address in Suite is going to be correct, and wherever you pasted to (your CEX in browser, your friend in a chat app) is gonna get the wrong address.
the flow is:
- get the address in Suite
- copy the address to clipboard
- paste into destination
- verify what you pasted against Trezor screen
- confirm on Trezor
