Today we had a massive airdrop of night token to many of crypto coins and the biggest one was for cardano. Unfortunately, currently TREZOR does not support cardano CIP9/30 and we cannot claim our tokens. This was discussed 18 months ago but there is no movement since now.
I do not want to change wallet I love, but we have really short window to claim airdop, so please add support for cardano CIP8/30:
Hi, in order to participate in the upcoming Midnight drop, I need to sign a message to prood ownership of the adress, managed by Trezor Suite. How can I sign a message for a Cardano adress, managed in Trezor Suite?
Tried to sign the Midnight airdrop, but got this message.
āTrezor does not support data signing at this memomentā
Trezor chat bot says:
Thank you for reaching out regarding the Midnight airdrop issue. Currently, the Trezor firmware and Suite do not support the CIP-36 signing flow required to claim NIGHT tokens from the Midnight airdrop. As a result, the Midnight claim portal will not accept a signature generated with Trezor at this time. Our development team is actively working with the Midnight team to add the necessary signing support. Unfortunately, there is no manual workaround available, so we recommend waiting for an official update rather than moving your ADA to another wallet. Please keep an eye on Trezorās social channels for announcements on when NIGHT claiming will become possible through Trezor. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to ask.
Hope this gets fixed soon.
Will they implement it before a month? I seriously doubt it. It is unacceptable for one of the leading hardware wallets to be this behind the curve.
Hi, thanks everyone for reaching out about CIP8/30 support and its impact on the Midnight (NIGHT) airdrop. We understand you and many other ADA users are eager for clarity on the process and potential next steps.
To redeem NIGHT tokens, users must sign a proof-of-ownership message using their Trezor connected to a Cardano wallet. This step is necessary to verify eligibility and receive the tokens.
At this moment, Trezor does not yet support the message signing required to complete the claim process through the Midnight portal. This means it is currently not possible to claim NIGHT tokens using your Trezor.
That said, weāre actively working on a solution. Our goal is to enable this signing functionality within the official 60-day claim window, and our development team is reviewing the required changes. This review includes the open pull request mentioned in this thread. We are in close contact with the Midnight team to ensure compatibility.
We fully recognize the importance of resolving this and will keep you informed. We will share updates as soon as we have more to announce.
hi NickW,
thank you for updating us about it.
I stored my ADAs in the Trezor HW-wallet by the snapshot (11.06.2025) and I am using staking inside Trezor.
Trying different new wallets (ADAlite, Nufu, Yoroi, Lace) now in order to claim the NIGHT tokens into that new and unused ADA address and to find a wallet which can sign messages, I finally got it - The claim page need me to use that keypair of my active staking to sign the unique claim message and to proof the ADAs are my genuine property. The new Wallet is not involved in the signing process, since the private keys will never leave the HW-wallet.
Please do what ever neccessary to implement this signing function ![]()
Thanky you for your effort!!!
Matze
Where are we on this? is there an update? I have held coin on my Trezor for a while now - I donāt check it often. Iāve tried moving my ADA off to another wallet but although successful this is obviously post the snapshot, it doesnāt work. The world of Crypto changes and Iām a little concerned that if CIP8/30 support isnāt updated to legacy HW then what else might expire. will I plug in my Model T one day and not have access to my keys?
MIDNIGHT was obviously under pressure to meet the previous expectation of a July release.
what I donāt get is Trezorās response as in āoh wow look- you are right, it does not workā
Software development is pretty standard and Trezor had to have known prior to the Glacier drop given the amount of publicity.
But we canāt change the past. What trezor can do is post/pin a thread somewhere that does not require logins/accounts with 2 things.
- Tested/approved wallets for the coins being allocated NIGHT- if the want t use MIDNIGHTs site that is fine.
- what people need to do to claim NIGHT who use Trezor if they canāt fix it by the now 56-57 days. This should be posted now, not right before they realize they may not make the required timing. And make the explanation like I am in 5th grade please

Its the second item where I am most disappointed
I already have 3 Trezor Model Tās with Shamir + Hidden passphrase enabled backups for my ADA / BTC and never thought I would ever need to do urgent research for another hardware wallet that supports CIP8/30, but here I am.
At least Trezor had the foresight to use open industry standards such as SLIP39 and Shamir that allows full walllet recovery on other hardware vendor devices.
They have ācommittedā to a late August fix so I suggest sitting tight till then. There is no rush to claim. MIDNIGHT should post Glacier drop ends October 4, 2025 at 13:00 UTC- countdown clocks are nice but gives us the deadline
I had to think about it, read and even checked AI on how to get the origin address for each chain so I am ready if I run into issues. My plan is to wait for Labor Day weekend and if there is no ADA fix for Trezor (direct), Iāll claim all NIGHT across all blockchains manually and then do to a respective soft wallet if that does not work.
I really hope I donāt need to regenerate my entire wallet on another hardware provider in order to claim the midnight airdrop
Sadly my research did not last long as there is only one other device vendor that supports recovery of a SLIP39 Trezor wallet with 3 recovery shares and Hidden Passphrase. Iāve already ordered it as a redundancy / contingency plan. Will test it out in a week and if the claims are successfull I will make it my default hardware wallet going forward.
I have tested keystone 3 pro and wallet does support shamir wallet this works, but integration with Cardano and shamir is not supported, so keystone is not a solution ![]()
I hope you are testing different HW wallet ![]()
I really hope we will get CIP8/30 support this month, I do really like trezor, for me this is one of the best wallet I ever hadā¦
Did it with Keystone 3 PRO, but unfortunately keystone does not support Shamir + Cardano network integration with Software wallet, so this is not a solution.
I hope someone knows any wallet which does support shamir + cardano and at least message signing or full browser integration with Cardano.
Looks like I might miss out on claiming some of my allocated Midnight tokens at this rate. ![]()
But there is some slim hope that the next few firmware updates from either Trezor or Keystone may provide this support for Cardano. ![]()
KeystoneHQ Github keystone 3 firmware releases 2.2.6
- Compatible with the updated SLIP-39 protocol
I have both, so as soon Trezor or Keystone allow to claim, I will let you know.
This is so stupid to buy Keystone only to claim midnight, but if Trezor is late (code was ready November 2024), I have a chance to use Keystone.
Updated Keystone 3 pro FW to 2.2.6 but you cannot use any Browser extension to interact with cardano coin. I got this message āShamir Backup wallet doesnāt support Cardanoā.
So as for now, there is not way to use Trezor shamir wallet into Keystone 3 Pro (importing wallet works) and interact with any browser to claim Midnight token.
We will provide an update by the end of August on the status of adding the Cardano messaging support to Trezor necessary to claim the Midnight Airdrop. Our aim remains unchanged to have it available during the ongoing 60-day claim window, but should that not be possible we will inform you of that.
While moving your backup to another wallet is certainly a possibility, we do not recommend doing so at this time.
Thank you Sir,
This is a clear message that you do your best to deliver cip8/30 support to Trezor (I see many Dapp wallets, claim that Trezor support is coming), in the worst case scenario, I hope you will give us enough time to migrate Trezor shamir wallet to alternative and claim airdrop.
To be honest I ordered Keystone 3PRO and they did not disclosed that they support Shamir, Cardano, SIP39, CIP8/30, but they do not support Shamir+Cardano external Dapp integration.
Message is clear for me, I hope you will deliver solution, after multiple HW wallets, Trezor for me is a ultimate solution and I would like to stay in your eccosystem.
