I’ve owned 5 different hardware wallets and the Trezor Safe 5 is my favorite by far. The only thing about it that I don’t prefer is the time it takes to sign txs. The Ledger device could sign in a fraction of the time, less than 1 sec on Ledger, and closer to 5 seconds on Trezor.
This can be a problem for someone who signs a LOT of transactions in a day, but I imagine it could be improved…
I’ve noticed that when swiping through tx details on Trezor, each page fades in, and with a short delay before you can swipe to the next page. On the Ledger device, you could click through the pages as fast as you could press the buttons. Big difference.
Also, signing on the Trezor Safe 5 is done by holding your finger for 2 or 3 seconds whereas on the Ledger it was instant, you push both buttons and it’s done.
I imagine the pages fade in for an aesthetic and smooth, professional look. It also forces you to slow down and actually read them, which could be a good thing.
I imagine the signing is held for 2-3 secs as a security measure.
However, could there be an option to speed this up? For users with a lot of transactions, this could be a great feature. Even if it entails a separate Firmware install for this particular feature or version, I think certain users would flock to it and love it.
What do you think?
