I created a 12-word recovery phrase using Trezor Model T in 2021. The generated BTC address at that time started with ‘3’ (P2SH format). Now Trezor uses addresses starting with ‘bc1’ (bech32 format).
So, can I use the 12-word recovery phrase I created in 2021 to recover both addresses starting with ‘bc1’ (bech32 format) and ‘3’ (P2SH format)? Or do I need to recreate the recovery phrase now? In Trezor-Suite, I see a “Default account” (starting with bc1) and a “Legacy SEGWIT account” (starting with ‘3’).
Hi @Wang.Wang,
All wallet backups on Trezors can be used to create either P2SH or bech32 addresses. The older P2SH format is available as a Legacy Segwit account by going to the top of the ‘My accounts’ menu bar on the left hand side of Trezor Suite, and pressing the plus sign:
In the next Add account window, choose Bitcoin and then select Legacy Segwit from the dropdown menu:
More information about Bitcoin account types is available at Bitcoin Account Types in Trezor Suite.
