Question about purchasing a Trezor Safe 7 with a blank MCU (without boardloader/bootloader)

Hello everyone,

I am researching the security architecture of the Trezor Safe 7 and have a hardware-related question.

For research and development purposes, I would like to gain a deeper understanding of the device provisioning process and the trust chain of the Safe 7 platform. Therefore, I would like to ask:

  1. Does Trezor offer or sell a version of the Safe 7 with an STM32U585 MCU that has not been programmed with a boardloader, bootloader, or any security keys?
  2. Is there any developer or partner program that allows purchasing a device in such a “blank” state?
  3. If not, does Trezor have any plans to support or offer such an option in the future?

My goal is to better understand the complete provisioning process and trust chain of the Safe 7 platform for research, and development purposes.

Thank you for your time.

There is no such program nor plans to introduce one.

For research & development purposes, you can use a STM32 Discovery kit, and build against the D002 target. Unfortunately there’s no out-of-the-box support for plugging the Secure Elements, you’d have to DIY that part.
