Model T PIN number

I have a model T that I used in early 2000 to take my BTC off an exchange.

I wrote down the 24 seed words

I have tried to login with what would be my likely pin # but they have not worked and have 11 attempts left.

I am not very crypto savvy. I know just enough to be dangerous.

How can I access my coins with the 24 seed words? I do not recall setting up a pin or password.

Do I need to but another Trezor to recover my coins?

you have a few options. But first do you think your likely to get the PIN ?

If you have no hope of getting the PIN:
Then you could just wipe the trezor input the 24 words and use a new PIN.

However if you used a passphrase, then the standard wallet is the only wallet that will be available to you with the 24 words. You’ll need the passphrase on top of this to get to the real wallet (if you used a passphrase back in 2000)

If you used no passphrase, then your OK, if you did, then you’ll need that as well.

The other option is to leave the trezor alone for now and use a hot wallet to recover the btc.

like maybe blue wallet, you put in the seed phrase and the wallet will be created. However, again, if you used a passphrase, then you’ll need that also to recover the correct wallet. The passphrase is like an optional 25th word.
Using the hot wallet method, will mean that the trezor also becomes hot, so once you have recovered your btc on to the blue wallet (or whatever hot wallet you chose), then if all is good, funds are there, then wipe the trezor create a new wallet from scratch(new seed etc) on the trezor and move the funds to the ‘new’ trezor wallet, so that the wallet is cold once again.

I’d probably go with the 2nd option, as this leaves the trezor alone in case you do in fact remember the PIN or something…

The Trezor from 2000 is still made of wrought iron and has two keys. Bitcoin only became digital years later, so your Bitcoin in the Trezor is probably still made of conventional gold.

Hi @Paco3g,

@Bored is right. In 2000, the Trezor devices did not yet exist. Trezor Model One was released in 2013 and Trezor Model T in 2018.

Also, please keep in mind that Trezor Model T used a 12-word recovery seed by default (not 24). Are you sure you have the correct recovery seed backup?
