Idea: Integrate a Camera into Trezor for QR Code Verification

To enhance security and user experience, I propose integrating a camera into Trezor devices to scan and verify QR codes displayed on a PC screen. This would:

1.	Improve Security: By providing visual confirmation that the address on the Trezor matches the one on the PC, mitigating phishing risks. Currently, users often only check the beginning and end of addresses, which is dangerous due to attacks where attackers generate similar addresses that start and end the same.
2.	Increase Convenience: Simplify address verification, reducing manual errors and speeding up transactions.

While this adds hardware and software complexity, alternative solutions like using a smartphone as an intermediary or enhancing the Trezor display could achieve similar benefits.

I may be wrong and miss some important details, so I’m happy to discuss this idea further.

No matter how good the security is, it is not as good as having a strong sense of security.
Adding parts increases the possibility of wallet damage.

Thank you for your feedback. While I understand that adding parts could potentially increase the chance of hardware damage, I believe the primary goal should be to enhance the overall security and user experience.

Following the logic that “no added parts” means better security could lead to an extreme conclusion where users shouldn’t even use Trezor. Instead, they would need to set up their own secure Ubuntu distribution on a clean PC and configure everything themselves. However, this isn’t practical for the average user and defeats the purpose of creating user-friendly and secure hardware wallets like Trezor.

The proposed camera integration is aimed at addressing the real-world behavior where users often only verify the beginning and end of addresses, making them vulnerable to phishing attacks with similar addresses. By offering a simple and efficient QR code verification, we can significantly enhance security without compromising user experience.
