Hi, what are actually the bitcoin-only safe 3 & 5 wallets? Is it mere a skin as some people say, or does it have a different bootloader that prevents installing the universal firmware (i.e. it’s not just the skin)?
I believe I can’t be the only one asking this and you should consider updating your product details. I’d be interested in buying the Bitcoin only wallet for the color only, but want the universal firmware.
Hi @slovenskakobra,
By default, the devices will install Bitcoin-only firmware after you initialize it. However, it is possible to change the firmware to the universal one later.
Hi @radekP @slovenskakobra
I have a safe 3 bitcoin-only and would like to install universal firmware whereas only bitcoin-only firmware is offered by default.
Therefore once more the question - is it possible and how to get universal firmware installed on a bitcoin only edition?
I am trying to set up Trezor Safe 5 Bitcoin Only version (orange) and I only have the option of installing bitcoin only firmware during setup. When looking in the settings where there should be an option for switching to universal firmware, there is no option for universal. Can Trezor help out? I was told it should be possible to switch to universal firmware.
So I really like the orange color of the Bitcoin only version (Safe 3, Safe 5). But I also have some other coins. Is it possible to load the standard multi coin supporting firmware onto one of these devices?
Hi, I bought a Safe 5 Bitcoin only version and as of now there is no way to install the universal firmware that supports other coins.
You can install Universal firmware
When the device is successfully initialized go to the device settings and click on install firmware.
Download the binary file for the Universal firmware from our Github.
And upload the Universal firmware in the Trezor Suite app.
Will i keep my bitcoin after doing this?
