if you are talking about MATIC ERC-20 token, then you always have to send that one to Ethereum address, if you have sent it to ETC the manual from the second post of this thread applies to you as well.

I was able to recover my funds. The problem was in fact the wrong combination of passphrase and seed.

Apparently you can proceed without introducing a passphrase, which was what I should have done.
