Anyone know why the Public Key isn’t shown in Trezor Suite, for XRP? It shows up for Bitcoin, but on my XRP holdings, it isn’t even an option to show the Public Key.
@Crypto_Newb this is because XRP uses the account model whereas Bitcoin uses the UTXO model. Understanding the distinction between the UTXO and Account models can significantly enhance your cryptocurrency management with Trezor.
UTXO Model: Used by Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, this model keeps track of different pieces of currency called UTXOs (Unspent Transaction Outputs). These UTXOs are associated with an address, and multiple addresses can be used, providing high privacy and control. The Coin Control feature in the Send menu of Trezor Suite allows you to view your UTXOs and addresses, and decide which coins to spend, and you can get the account’s extended public key (XPUB) from the Trezor to track all of your addresses in the account at once. Cryptocurrencies in Trezor Suite using this model include Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, and Zcash.
Account Model: This model directly adjusts balances held in accounts, simplifying fund management on the blockchain. It uses one address per account for holding cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies in Trezor Suite using this model include Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Polygon PoS, XRP, and Solana.
So on an XRP account only has one address. That’s why unlike with Bitcoin, you don’t ever have an XRP XPUB.
