Updating a dormant Trezor Model One - stuck on "Reconnect your Trezor in bootloader mode"

Haven’t used my Model One since (probably) late 2019. Trying to download Trezor Suite, and am apparently stuck on the quoted message from my title.

I get a check-mark for disconnecting my Trezor, but I’m not sure step 2 (Press and hold the left button while connecting the USB cable) has been fulfilled. . .even though I did that. Multiple times.

Have noted that other forum posts on this topic referenced Trezor Bridge or Trezor Wallet, both of which appear to no longer exist.

What do you think?

Try connecting to the computer while holding down both buttons.

No luck with that step. Any other thoughts? Would a factory reset lose the crypto contained on my Trezor?

Disregard. Figured it out through downloading an old version of Trezor Suite, then trying a lot of (wrong) PINs. Eventually got to the point where I could perform a factory reset.
