Trezor shows brand new wallet with 0 balance after update

Hi

I havent used my trezor for I‘d say a year. I connected it with my Exodus Wallet and did a Firmware update. Now it is showing a brand new wallet with 0 balance, instead of my old wallet. I tried a factory reset with my seedphrase (checked first if it is the correct one), but still no funds, only brand new wallet with no transactions… I thought my seed phrase is all I ever need in case of any trouble… I am really concerned. Trezor Email support tries to tell me that I have a hidden wallet (what the heck is that???) and have forgotten my passphrase. This is impossible, I never before had a passphrase to enter my wallet. I always only had a seed phrase and pin and everything worked fine.

I am really disappointed with support and also saw quite a few blog posts with very similar topics. Please help! I have another trezor as well and I am thinking of moving my funds somewhere else before this happens to that one too…

Any help? I have a lot of money on that trezor wallet.

I am facing same problem as you, and probably a lot of people as well and more will come here in future since bull market just started. This feature, “passphrase” was very bad adverstided in my opinion, average user will not 100 % understand what it is and will be trapped. i have an account only for hold pruposes with almost 650 days of being untouched and when decided to make some transactions it say " address error".

I Reinstaled sucssefully my metamask and now, the address is no longer there.

Support is telling me it is probably a hidden wallet when i am COMPLETELY SURE is not.

This is an absolut nightmare for Trezor users. You think you have your coins stored the Safest way possible but now Trezor seems to have created a trap for its users. Horrible! It seems that especially users that created their wallets before this „hidden thing“ has been implemented have this problem now. Trezor seems to have created hidden wallets behind the scenes while we were 100 sure our coins are safe. And after firmware update, BOOM! Trezor asks for passphrase that was never created… I read of a guy with the same problem. He downgraded his firmware to when he bought his trezor and was able to access his coins again this way. And of course, he quickly transfered the coins somewhere else where no trezor is involved. Will try that too if nothing else works.

Can you please be more specific on this? Please provide a source.

You can actually do the same thing to see there is no change in passphrase behaviour.

Then, you should use a standard wallet/no passphrase.

Trezor is fully open source and code is publicly available.

Hey guys has anyone else had issues after updating there trezzor device to the latest firmware were the passphraze no longer displays any balance and says the wallet is empty

I try to connect with this person to exactly understand what he did to hopefully help a lot of users with the same shit happening.
Fact is: I NEVER created a hidden wallet. But after firmware update No fund, no transactions on my standard wallet. Even after factory reset with correct seed phrase…, nothing. Only a brand new wallet. Support tells me now, I must have a hidden wallet and doesnt get that I never created one. Or maybe doesnt want to get it? There is a lot of ignorance about this topic with costumer support. Unfortunately.

It does not mean you have to had a hidden wallet, it would suggest that you recovered incorrect/different seed.

I would also like to say that I am in the EXACT position as everyone else.

I got my Trezor 2 years ago thinking this is the safetest way to store my coins. Funds went through, wrote down the recover seed carefully (since i know how important this meant).

2 Years later, all my funds are gone and I keep getting directed to the same recovery process and Trezor saying its most likely User Error, when its VERY unlikely I would write down the 24 seed incorrectly given my understanding of the importance of this and me putting it on 2 separate paper files.

I also know for a fact I did not use a passphrase, but again Trezor saying oh its in a hidden wallet when in FACT I know for sure I did not use a passphrase.

I wish we could all do something about this, but I feel just as helpless as the other person. If anyone out there knows what we can do on a bigger scale to shed some light on this, let me know and I will help whatever it takes.

I always do a backup check before update and seed was correct. This cant be the problem

So downgrade the firmware as per the article above and let us know if you see your coins with the older FW.

I have this exact issue, updated my firware today. I also use Exodus to manage and transfer funds. I was trying to view my Trezor on my desktop app and it was having a discovery issue, saying I needed to update firmware. My exodus app was saying the same thing. I did get a red screen of death when I first tried to enter bootloader mode and then reconnected and it worked fine. After the update, I ran a dry run of my backup seed phrase and it says I had the correct one. I think another possibility is that this newest firmware update is faulty and that it is displaying incorrectly. I have all the coins enabled on the app. I have never input my seed anywhere aside my Trezor app. Maybe another solution is to buy a new Trezor and input my seed there?

Trezor, my ticket number is 16712.

when did this happen to you? Was it a few days ago after the latest firmware update? I always had a sneaky suspicion that this Trezor was no good and now it is starting to get confirmed. Hopefully they find a way around this.

Trezor says downgrading firmware is risky and you would need to upload it in a custom way. Have you ever tried buying a new Trezor and inputting your seed phrase? I personally did not wipe my device after the update since I don’t want to lose anything.

I read same thing probably, his nick name is" identified_ weakness1"?

My trezor says Passphrase Duplicated when I try to access a hidden wallet. Please brother, this is people MONEY we are talking about. Fix your software ! Confidence is lost this way…

I have exactly the same problem, appears I have a new screen full of zeros, I did a reset to original settings. I am being told it is the first day of my account and my first interaction.
possibly a coding error with the upgrade, out of the end users ability to fix, I certainly hope the coins are still there as this will have a major impact on trezor.

ok I resolved my issue,

when I updated it changed the layout and applied a pass phrase wallet,
the pass phrase is invisible and by clicking on the passphrase icon I was able to figure out the log in process. the system works very well and is simple to use once you understand. there are some youtube videos explaining pass phrases thats how I figured it out.
