Maybe this’ll be newbie question or perhaps has been asked and answered before, but I’ll ask anyway.
Got Trezor Model T from my friend, but I was thinking about buying Trezor Safe 5. Can I use same 12-word from my old Trezor model t and recover on my new Trezor Safe 5? My friend says I shouldn’t do that and he’s suggesting me to rather setup new 20-word wallet with passphrase after purchasing Trezor Safe 5 and then send my funds from my old Trezor Model T to my new Trezor Safe 5. What are your thoughts or experiences on this?
Looking forward to hear from more experienced Trezor users
@dgsv you can keep using your legacy backup 12 word seed with a Trezor Safe 5 if you want to. It’s also possible to create the new 20 word seed with a Model T
if your absolutely certain that the 12 word seed is secure, never been leaked in anyway digitally or anyone has seen it etc etc.
Then you can use the 12 words on the new safe 5.
However, if you have any doubts as to the security of the 12 word seed, set an new one up with 20 words on the safe 5 and transfer your funds over to it.
