Hi - i have been storing some BTC on the Bitcoin app on my phone. As the price has changed somewhat, i felt a hardware wallet might be a good move. I bought the Trezor 1. I went through the setup steps - notably creating and recording and hiding a 24 word seed phrase. I then seemed to be in a position to receive BTC. So, I used my bitcoin phone app to send BTC to my Trezor wallet address. I only sent a very small amount - just in case something went wrong. Minutes later - i see the associated BTC in my Trezor wallet. All good so far. The next step is to transfer the remaining BTC to the Trezor wallet. I think my initial concern before doing that was “what if the Trezor is stolen, or more likely placed somewhere so safe i forget about it” - am i stuffed ? Or - as i am hoping - the knowledge of the 24 word seed will allow me to buy a new wallet (from potentially a different vendor than Trezor - no reason i would - just wondered as to possibilities) and restore my old wallet.
ie ultimately the 24 word seed is all i really need ?
And once i have transferred all my BTC to the hardware wallet and seen it in the wallet - i no longer need the BTC app on my phone as effectively i have now emptied that wallet to my new Trezor one ?
Thanks in advance for any input - i want to do the safe thing, but i am terrified of only thinking i am doing the right thing - and finding out the hard way years later
