Hi All, Newbie to Trezor. looking to get a trezor 5. However, The cold wallet i have used for the last year is never connected to the internet, which males sense. However. it looks like you have to connect your 5 to a laptop or phone. I dont understand how this is not a security risk?

The main purpose of hardware (HW) wallet is to keep the wallet backup (recovery seed) stored offline. However, you need to be online to manage your wallet (send transactions). With the Trezor device, your wallet backup is always safely stored offline in the Trezor. However, Trezor Suite (application for controling your Trezor device) is connected online to check the status of the blockchains of cryptocurrencies that you are using. This is absolutely normal and your private keys are not at risk.
