Initial Selection of Firmware

When I first opened the Trezor Suite and plugged in my first Trezor I was asked to install the firmware. The options were to install Universal Firmware or Bitcoin only firmware. On my first device I purposely selected the Bitcoin only firmware and on my second device I accidently selected the Universal firmware.

I stopped at this point because I will be using both devices for a multi-sig solution and I want to have the same setup on both.

?Is there any way to reset my second device with the Universal Firmware so I can setup with the Bitcoin Only firmware.

I would appreciate some direction.

Thank you,

Hi @joe_ace,

you can switch from Universal firmware to Bitcoin-only (and back) in “Settings” (the gearwheel symbol in the top right corner of Trezor Suite) under the “Device” tab in section “Firmware”:

just click the button “Switch to Bitcoin”

Hi i cannot switch to Universal firmware, also tried to manually update firmware with “trezor-t2t1-2.6.3.bin” but got error message.

Hi @donin,

Please try to factory reset your Trezor device. The latest universal firmware will be installed after the factory reset and you will have option to recover your original wallet with your recovery seed backup.

Information on how to factory reset your Trezor device can be found at https://trezor.io/support/a/how-to-reset-your-pin
(the process is the same as if you lost your PIN and need to reset it)

Information on how to perform the recovery process can be found here:

for Trezor Model One: https://trezor.io/learn/a/recover-wallet-on-trezor-model-one
for Trezor Model T: https://trezor.io/learn/a/recover-wallet-on-trezor-model-t
for Trezor Safe 3: https://trezor.io/learn/a/recover-wallet-on-trezor-safe-3

@donin do you have a Trezor Safe 3? If yes, you need to select the Bitcoin-only firmware for the TS3, it has t2b1 in the name. This one is for Trezor T.

If you have Trezor T, this error would indicate that the firmware image is corrupted.
