I updated Trezor suite and now my Trezor Safe 5 is asking for my backup words

I don’t really feel like entering my 20 words as it shouldn’t be asking. Especially right after an update (not a firmware update - just the suite)… If I say ‘cancel’ on the computer, it says Wallet backup check failed and won’t let me do anything (it says enter passphrase on device but I can’t on the computer as the screen is locked). Does this mean the device died? It’s just been sitting on my desk for the last couple of weeks. Thanks, Greg
