I have a Model One which can not complete the reboot for firmware updates. I’ve tried any ways: changing the wire, changing the computer, change the USB port…but it always failed.
I finally bought a new device and recovered the account by using phrases, the new one works perfectly.
Then I tried to put the old device to factory seting by holding the lefte botton while connect, but nothing happened. Now I realized the left button is failed.
How can I erase all data from the old device? Thanks
Hi @bigS,
It sounds like your Trezor Model One is broken. If it’s been less than two years since you purchased it, you can request a replacement by submitting a ticket through our chatbot on Support | Trezor Knowledge Base and providing proof of the purchase and defect.
Otherwise I would recommend destroying the Model One. For instance, you can crack the display with some tool, which will make entering the PIN properly impossible, but there are many other creative solutions to doing so, and to be clear we can’t assume any liability for risk of life and limb you would take, if, say, you wanted to throw your Model One into an active volcano
Thank you @NickW,
I’ve already destoyed the device.
Specifically, after watching a video of the hack, I tore it open, cut the chip into several pieces, fianlly discarded them away. I suposed that would be safe…
