Having 2 words in the same position in two different devices

Couple weeks ago, a friend of mine bought 2 Trezors together in the official Trezor site (with the idea of creating a milti-sig setup), when he was setting them up, at the step of writing their words down. The word number 4 and 5 was the same for both devices. What is you opinion on this? Appreciate your answers!

Hi @FBM,
yes that is normal to have academic academic. It means you have used Single-Share backup. In case of Multi-Share backup you will have academic just once. They actually control words for number of groups, shares and threshold.

For more details check Trezor’s learn portal page: Single-share Backup on Trezor

Hi @FBM

The first four words encode information about the type of your backup? This is why the third and fourth word in Single-share Backups are always: academic academic

But first two are random. So they aren’t involved in type of backup i guess.

@Bitcoin_Lover They are involved in the backup type, it’s just the first two words are not supposed to be the same, and the third and fourth words are always expected to be “academic”.
