Gemini exchange requesting wallet information

Hello,
For years I’ve purchased BTC on the Gemini exchange and transferred the BTC to my trezor.
They’ve recently requested a lot of information that I’m not sure how to comply with, even if I wanted to. I’m hoping someone can help explain how to answer their requests. Again, I’m not sure I’m willing to but I’d like to know either way. There request is for:

  • Confirmation of the actual wallet address to which you’ll be withdrawing.
  • Confirmation of the platform, program, site, app, group, or entity that hosts the wallet / issues the wallet address.
  • Documentation of wallet ownership (e.g. a screenshot of the wallet dashboard linking the wallet address to your name and/or email address.
    Thanks

huh, looks like they’re making sure that you are not getting scammed, a rare KYC process that is actually helping the customer

“Proving ownership” of the address is going to be difficult because Trezor is a self-custody solution and no link to your name nor e-mail address exists.

As a guess, you may be able to prove all they want with a single screenshot: Trezor Suite open on the receive address screen, with the address you intend to use, all that side by side with a browser with your logged in Gemini account.

Thanks for responding. Yes, in one sense I appreciate a certain level of security. That said, they provide you with no information as to why they’re asking questions. This wasn’t the only request, it’s more the latest request. The more I think about it the more I’m not convinced it’s for my security. At least not this request. I did provide them with a screenshot of a receiving address but they continue to request the ‘actual wallet address’. By that I assume they’re referring to the XPUB address which would allow them to see all activity, Gemini related or not, for the wallet. I cannot think of how them knowing the XPUB address ‘proves’ who I am. They have all my personal information that any U.S. Financial institution has. I’ve done nothing different recently than I’ve done with Gemini for the last 2+ years. Anyway, we’ll see where it goes.

Well if they want an XPUB that’s what they should ask for, right? Who are we to know what an “actual wallet address”. If there is something they have in mind, they should be able to tell you how to get it, not you scrambling to figure it out.
If it were me, I’d play obstinate with them and send my physical address  But it’s not my money stuck there so. Good luck to you.

Your suggestion made me laugh. I guess I could interpret my ‘wallet address’ to be the address where my wallet is, right. Fortunately, it’s not life changing money, I never keep much on an exchange. I think the worst case scenario, based on what others have experienced, they force you to sell the crypto asset, transfer your USD back to your bank, and close your account.
