its really frustrating, the devs from Vacuumlabs have finished to integrate CIP8/30 message signing for cardano months ago and are still waiting on there PR to be merges into master.
The cardano community needs message signing, the community was quite until now because normally such PRs got mergered after a few weeks. Not in this case, its stall.
Ledger HW-Wallet and also Keystone are supporting this already, Trezor users are missing out on this feature now for a long time. Again, this PR is ready to be merged now for months.
I agree that this is a priority. Cardano has one of the largest communities and there are other hardware wallet providers that are providing the necessary support.
Trezor needs to address this integration as soon as possible.
Prosím o zapracování CIP-8. Cardano komunita je jedna z největších v krypto prostoru. A s nadcházejícím bullmarketem bude DeFi využíváno mnohonásobně více. Takže se funkcionalita bude hodit.
Please for merging CIP-8. Cardano community is on of the biggest comunnity in cryptospace and with incoming bullmarket will be DeFi used by more users.
Our primary script address processes between 100k-160k transactions per month from users. A large percentage of those user are interacting via Trezor devices. Our users want CIP8/30 functionality. Some of them have reported abandoning Trezor for other vendors due to gaining this functionality elsewhere. Please merge this PR.
This issue is driving away Cardano users from Trezor wallets, as this feature is essential for decentralized authentication on Cardano dapps. The software is ready for merging, and Ledger has already merged it. Please address this!
Thank you for reaching out regarding the recent pull request on our GitHub repository (PR #3509) related to Cardano’s CIP integration.
We understand the importance of this update to the Cardano community and share your enthusiasm for enhancing the ecosystem. However, after a thorough review, we regret to inform you that implementing this CIP at this time would require significant resources and infrastructure changes that we cannot allocate due to current priorities and commitments.
While the pull request itself might appear ready for integration, implementing it into our firmware involves more complexity than meets the eye. This decision was not made lightly, and we understand that it is rather disappointing.
We genuinely hope to revisit this in the future and will communicate updates as soon as circumstances allow. Until then, we sincerely apologize and thank you for your ongoing support.
Hey @Serge , thank you for your answer. I am sure the devs will reach out to each other again in the background. But for now it seams there is nothing left than to accept your decision.
Revolutionary projects like book dot io + stuff dot io bringing ebook industry to NFTs need this.
They have investors the scale of Bertelsmann (who own Penguin Random house publishing).
Implementing something like message signing would be very beneficial when you consider the scale of how many people read ebooks and may want to literally own them as well. And keep their assets on a hardware wallet.
This is indeed quite frustrating as a Trezor owner and someone who has historically recommended Trezor to many new users. I’ve walked many through the setup of their new Trezors.
Since a couple months ago I no longer recommend Trezor, I cannot in good faith make the recommendation given the lack of customer/technical support for the community of Trezor owners.
I’d like to see this change. But I have to be honest, it will probably take some effort on Trezor’s part at this point to regain lost trust; I hope you make the effort I believe it will be worth it.
This is very disappointing. I was one of the clients who recommended Trezor to many people. I cannot believe you are ignoring the community of one of the biggest decentralized blockchains. With this decision, you have lost me as a loyal customer, and I am switching to your competitors. “Good job!”
I would like to add my voice in support of integrating CIP-8/CIP-30 message signing for Cardano on Trezor devices. This feature is essential for users who require secure message signing capabilities within the Cardano ecosystem. Implementing this functionality would greatly enhance the utility of Trezor wallets for Cardano holders by allowing for seamless authentication and verification processes.
By prioritizing the integration of CIP-8/CIP-30, Trezor would demonstrate its commitment to supporting the evolving needs of the Cardano community. I urge the development team to consider merging the existing pull request and making this feature available in upcoming firmware updates.
Thank you for your continuous efforts to improve Trezor devices!
