For a long time, I’ve been wondering why there isn’t an elegant solution for easily using cryptocurrencies stored on cold storage in everyday life. Please excuse me if my ideas are technically unrealistic or completely off-base – I’m just a user trying to highlight what could vastly improve the user experience.
Currently, I keep my BTC on cold storage, which is excellent for long-term holding. However, despite the growing interest in cryptocurrencies, there’s still no straightforward way to easily spend small amounts directly from cold storage.
I envision a scenario where a user could send a small portion of BTC from their Trezor directly to their phone via Bluetooth, and then easily use it for payments via the Lightning Network. Furthermore, it would be interesting if Trezor offered its own payment system, perhaps “Trezor Pay.” This system would allow users to send funds to it and then pay anywhere that accepts QR code payments or even by scanning a payment card (similar to Apple Pay/Google Pay, but with cryptocurrencies).
I understand that this represents a significant leap across the Rubicon from purely cold storage to the possibility of flexible payments. However, it’s crucial that this doesn’t force users to adopt these payment methods. Those who prefer to simply “hodl” their BTC could continue to do so without any changes. These functions would serve as an optional and convenient layer for those who wish to use their cryptocurrencies more actively.
I believe that for wider cryptocurrency adoption, it’s essential to make their use for everyday payments much more accessible. Users need far simpler and more intuitive ways to spend their digital assets, and current solutions are often too complicated.
Thank you!
